Pylenor

PYLENOR (1994TA)

In the mythology of the Centaurs Pylenor cleansed his wounds in the river Anigrus thereby giving the river a foul smell and contaminating all those who washed in it. He lived in the mountains and was known as ‘The man of the Mountain Pass’

Collectively, all the Centaurs have a transformational influence indicating the need to let go so that a new order can come in.

The astrological meaning of a Centaur is found by taking into consideration its orbit in relation to other planets. In the case of Pylenor it circles the orbit of Uranus reaching out toward Saturn but not quite touching it. As Uranus in astrology is related to sudden and perhaps disruptive events, then it makes sense that wherever Pylenor is positioned in the natal chart there is a disruptive and perhaps violent influence at work. As the myth suggests, it is also connected to that which needs purifying, (the washing of the wound) the structure that needs to be broken down and rebuilt in order for healing to occur.

For instance, Pylenor conjunct the natal Sun might suggest that there is a need for change regarding the structure of one’s creativity and self-expression. This most probably will come about after a deep wounding, either physical or emotional and initially, perhaps, from Father or a Father figure, as he represents the Sun in the chart. This is likely to have the effect of making the native realise that the present structure is ‘unsafe’ and liable to collapse and, unless the old one is broken down and a new and stronger one is put in its place, the wound will fester and contaminate all associated with it.

It is also possible to look at incidents where the Centaurs are found to be very active.

One such incident was the Jerusalem wedding disaster of 24 May 2001 in which a number of people were killed and wounded after the floor collapsed. The building had been declared unsafe but some hasty renovations prior to the wedding coupled with the owner’s greed to make a few bucks was all that was needed for this supposedly happy day to turn into a nightmare.

On that day Pylenor was at 23 degrees 11’ of Taurus in the 4th house in square aspect to Uranus at 24 degrees 50’ of Aquarius in the 2nd house. As Pylenor is the structure and Taurus is related to buildings, Uranus here is the sudden disruptive influence of the collapse of that building. The transformative influence being the floor opening up, as in the abyss, and people falling to their deaths.

Another event, this time a positive one, was the ‘breaking down’ of the Berlin Wall on 9 November 1989 at 18:57 (Nick Campion’s Book of World Horoscopes). It stood for over 28 years and was a reminder to all of the Cold War in Europe. Pylenor is in Pisces 7 degrees 21’ and elevated, making a grand trine aspect to the Ascendant at 5 degrees 19’ and Jupiter at 10 degrees 39’ of Cancer and Mars 3 degrees 42’ of Scorpio. The Moon as ruler of the Ascendant is at 28 degrees Pisces in 9th house. The Midheaven is on the Pylenor/Moon’s Node midpoint. These aspects combined indicate the free-flowing energy leading to the sudden collapse of the enforced isolation, the letting go of the old structure, renewed hope for the future and freedom for the people of Germany.
